Edgar Plans (b. 1977, Madrid, Spain) is a Spanish contemporary artist whose imaginative and emotionally resonant universe has captured international recognition. Born in Madrid and based in Gijón, he studied Art History at the University of Oviedo and developed a distinctive visual language rooted in spontaneity, storytelling, and social reflection.
His iconic Animal Heroes, with their wide eyes and expressive gestures, inhabit vibrant compositions filled with symbols, handwritten phrases, and cultural references. These characters act as poetic narrators, channeling themes of creativity, vulnerability, and resilience while drawing from influences such as literature, childhood memories, and street culture.
Plans has presented major solo exhibitions curated by Pablo Villazán at institutions such as the Moscow Museum of Modern Art, S2A Museum in Seoul, and ARCO Madrid in collaboration with Spanish newspaper El País. His work has been featured worldwide on numerous occasions at some of the world’s most important art fairs, including Art Basel.
His artistic reach extends into fashion, sport, and global culture through high-profile collaborations with brands such as 3 PARADIS, Paris Saint-Germain, and BE@RBRICK. With the NBA, Plans created a traveling exhibition of monumental sculptures to celebrate its seventy-fifth anniversary, which toured key cities across Asia including Shanghai, Seoul, and Singapore.
