We use empirical market data to determine edition sizes and market pricing. We also work with the makers themselves throughout the process, so the offerings in each Drop are in line with both the artist's preference and historical pricing.

Buying

How many works can I purchase per drop?

The maximum volume per order will be determined on a per drop basis. Further information will be included in each month’s drop details. Phillips reserves the right to cancel sales or charge a restocking fee equal to ten percent (10%) of the Purchase Price if a buyer attempts to circumvent these limitations by purchasing more than the maximum permitted works, including using separate accounts.

Do published prices include taxes and shipping charges?

No. The prices displayed exclude applicable taxes (such as VAT, Sales and/or Use taxes), import duties and delivery charges.

What payment methods does Dropshop accept?

Dropshop accepts payment by all major credit and debit cards. For questions about alternative payment methods, please contact dropshop@phillips.com

Will my Dropshop purchases show up under my Phillips.com account?

At this time, Dropshop purchases will not be reflected in your Phillips.com account.

What is KYC and Why is it required?

“Know Your Client” (KYC) checks are a legal requirement for art businesses trading in or acting as intermediaries in the sale and purchase of works of art.

Dropshop buyers must provide client identification information and documentation within 48 hours of making payment, to satisfy the required KYC checks. We cannot complete your purchase and ship items you have paid for, until you have satisfied these compliance checks.

Following payment, you will receive an email with instructions and a link to complete the KYC process. Please note that the credit card and billing information used at checkout must match the KYC information provided.

We use a third-party provider (Shufti Pro) to carry out required KYC compliance checks. By proceeding with your purchase, you agree to provide your identification information and documentation to Shufti Pro and accept Shufti Pro’s Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy for this purpose.

Failure to complete the KYC process within 48 hours of paying will result in cancellation of your order, and we will retain 10% of the purchase price paid to cover administrative and re-stocking costs.

Further KYC details are available here.

What happens if I don’t complete KYC in the 48 hour window?

In the event KYC is not completed within the 48 hour window, your transaction will be canceled, and Dropshop will charge you a 10% restocking fee.

I completed KYC verification on a previous drop. Do I need to complete it again?

Yes. Buyers are required to complete KYC verification on a per drop basis.

Can I provide separate billing and shipping addresses?

Yes. Billing and shipping addresses do not have to match. You can provide any delivery address, including a business address.

Shipping

Do you ship internationally?

Orders shipped outside of the United States may be subject to applicable customs, duties, and import tax that are payable by the buyer upon delivery and may vary depending on the final delivery location. For questions relating to international shipping, email dropshop@phillips.com

Where are works dispatched from?

Currently, all works ship from New York.

When will my order be delivered?

Orders will ship following the close of each drop at the end of the month. Shipping updates and tracking details will be provided via email.

Can I collect my order or arrange my own shipping?

No. Phillips will arrange the shipment of all orders following the close of each drop.

Can I change the delivery address after I have checked-out?

No. Delivery addresses cannot be changed after you have completed the check-out process. This is for legal, tax, and compliance reasons.

Is my purchase insured against loss, damage or theft during delivery?

Yes. Transit insurance will be added to the shipping and handling price during checkout. Phillips will insure your purchase against loss, damage and theft from door to door for the full purchase price. Buyers are unable to self-insure or opt out of transit insurance.

What should I do if my work arrives damaged?

Inspect your order immediately upon delivery. In the event that the property has arrived damaged, please contact dropshop@phillips.com for further assistance.

Owning

Can I resell the artwork that I purchased through Dropshop?

We hope that the works acquired on Dropshop will act as a cornerstone of your collection.

Works purchased on Dropshop and subsequently resold in a Phillips auction or exhibition will include a resale royalty commission benefitting the artist. This is payable by the buyer and it enables creators to participate in their ongoing market success. Only Phillips has made this level of commitment to contemporary artists or makers working today.

Given market dynamics, we recommend holding your acquisition for at least two years. However, should a time come when you are ready to offer the work on to another collector, Dropshop and our collaborators hope that you will consider consigning with Phillips.

For further information about consigning, reach out to us at dropshop@phillips.com
