The Project
In his Dropshop debut, Colm Dillane presents a curated selection of original paintings alongside the KidSuper Studio Case, highlighting how his artistic practice and visual language move seamlessly from the canvas to fashion.
For Dillane, New York is more than a backdrop; it is the foundation of his fashion brand KidSuper. The city's relentless energy, ambition, humor, and visual density have shaped both his creative process and the world he has built. In a place where everyone is competing to be seen, his work embraces complexity rather than reducing it. With these paintings, there is a layering of people, architecture, signage, streets, and fleeting moments into richly detailed compositions that invite repeated discovery.
These paintings capture the paradox of New York: a city so extraordinary that its everyday magic can easily become invisible. By bringing attention to overlooked encounters, familiar neighborhoods, and ordinary scenes, Dillane encourages viewers to slow down and see the city with fresh eyes. Like wandering through Washington Square Park, exploring the Astor Place flea market, or unexpectedly finding a new neighborhood around the next corner, the works evoke the sense of curiosity and possibility that defines New York at its best.
This spirit of exploration extends beyond the paintings through the KidSuper Studio Case. Inspired by turn-of-the-century travel trunks, the edition of 50 celebrates movement, memory, and discovery. The idea is simple: you do not always have to cross the world to feel transported. In New York, sometimes all it takes is one street, one person, or one unexpected moment. You can become a traveler in your own city.
Together, the paintings and Studio Case reveal the breadth of Dillane's creative practice, demonstrating how the same playful storytelling, layered imagery, and sense of wonder animate everything he creates. An exhibition of the paintings and studio case will be on view at Phillips New York from August 12th-30th.

The Artist
KidSuper is the multidisciplinary practice of Colm Dillane, an artist whose work moves fluidly between painting, fashion, performance, filmmaking, music, and design. Rather than treating these disciplines as separate pursuits, Dillane approaches them as interconnected forms of storytelling, each informing the next. His studio operates less like a traditional fashion house and more like a contemporary artist’s workshop, where ideas evolve through experimentation, collaboration, and constant dialogue.
At the center of the practice is an unwavering commitment to process. A garment may begin as a painting. A sketch can become a theatrical runway presentation. A conversation with a friend might develop into a film, a sculpture, or an exhibition. Every collection emerges through months of drawing, painting, prototyping, revising, and questioning, preserving the spontaneity and curiosity that define the work.
"Within my work I try to capture the energy of New York. I try to capture that feeling when you are walking down the street, crowds of people are clamoring, cars are beeping, advertisements, graffiti and store signs are fighting for your attention. Its is an inspiring chaos where everything feels weirdly possible. You don’t know what path you are going to take but someone amongst the crowd or some back room in a building can make it possible."
We as New Yorkers are all jumping into the abyss of potential.
