From the collection of the late esteemed curator Kynaston McShine, this limited drop offers collectors eleven panels of Andy Warhol Cow wallpaper printed for the artist’s 1989 retrospective. McShine was the former Chief Curator at Large at the Museum of Modern Art and organized the museum's 1989 exhibition Andy Warhol: A Retrospective.
Through his Pop style and use of the boldest fluorescent colors, Warhol transformed the otherwise quaint subject of a cow into a charismatic and glamorous portrait, like those of the cultural icons for which he is best known. First conceptualized for his 1966 show at Leo Castelli gallery, Warhol returned to the Cow wallpaper throughout his career. Realizing a total of four color variations, the pink and yellow and blue and yellow wallpaper was featured at the 1989 MoMA retrospective.
